FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to the Essendon North Primary School website.

The Essendon North Primary School is aiming to be a learning organization for all stakeholders: students, parents, and teachers.

The Navigator School experience has been a wonderful boost for the school in terms of providing quality futuristic tools for children that they can use daily in the curriculum.

We get many visitors to our school wanting to see classrooms, looking to find out information, and seeking our advice on various technical aspects about learning. We conduct Practicums, workshops amd visits from educators and others schools. The school has changed significantly in personnel since 1994. At that time the average staff age was 54, it is now 34! We have grown in numbers from 216 in 1993 to 496 in 2006. Actually we have a waiting list in some year levels but we only have enough space in the school to have 20 classrooms. This is remarkable when you consider that we are a school in a well established area only ten kilometers from the city centre. The increased size has created a few more problems in terms of infrastructure, organization, communication and people management. But these challenges have been met through the diligence and professionalism of our staff, along with the support of the School's broader community.

We stand by our mission to “deliver the highest quality learning”, and Essendon North has a culture of continuous improvement. In 2005 we were one of the first schools to receive Performance and development Culture Accreditation.

Everyone at Essendon North should feel proud of their school because in recent years we have had a number of acknowledgements:

  • 2002 Apple Distinguished School Status
  • 2003 Smithsonian Institute in USA induction for our work in Technology
  • 2005 Cell School Selection

Our staff are an immensely talented group of people who are passionate educators and it is their work that make our school what it is today. We have eight staff who are recognized international speakers on education. That is a wonderful achievement.

Enjoy your time navigating around our web site!
