Essendon North Primary School is a candidate school* for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Essendon North Primary School believes is important for our students.
As part of our Candidacy stage we are actively promoting the learner profile throughout our school community. The learner profile provides a long-term vision of education. It is a set of ideals that can inspire, motivate and focus the work of schools and teachers, uniting them in a common purpose. The IB learner profile is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century. Read the full IB learner profile .
We published a series of articles in our school newsletter throughout Semester One 2014, to introduce the attributes of the learner profile to our school community. We have collected these articles into one presentation.
Learner Profile in action
Our Grade 6 students as part of their Digital Media Arts elective have created video clips demonstrating attributes of the learner profile within our school community.
Openminded : Josh shares with us what he thinks it means to be open-minded.
Knowledgeable : Henry promotes the knowledgeable attribute of the learner profile at ENPS.
Caring : Seren, Senalee and Aileen show what it means to be caring.
There will be further video clips added over the coming weeks.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate).
